(December 14, 2025) – Lake Placid’s Mt Van Hoevenberg, home of North America’s first bobsled track, is preparing to welcome the world’s top luge athletes this weekend, December 19–20, for the FIL Luge World Cup. As the historic venue approaches its 100th anniversary, it continues to serve as one of the most technically demanding proving grounds in the sport, featuring 20 curves, a steep gradient, and the legendary “Devil’s Highway.” Many competitors arriving in Lake Placid are Olympic hopefuls sharpening their form ahead of the 2026 Winter Games.

Mt Peter“Paw Prints on the Mountain” turns one woman’s birthday into a fundraiser for shelter pets

Warwick, N.Y. (Nov 19, 2025) - Mount Peter, New York’s Family Mountain now celebrating its 90th season, will host Paw Prints on the Mountain, a community tubing event to benefit the Warwick Valley Humane Society, on Saturday, December 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets are $39 for two hours of tubing, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to support local shelter animals.

So many moments are forever etched into our memories and on Tuesday, Feb. 18, many of those memories and perhaps new ones will be celebrated during the Dream On, The 1980 Lake Placid Olympic Figure Skating Reunion Gala. Presented by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) the unforgettable evening begins at 7 p.m., with a special dinner, followed by the show at 8 p.m., in the Olympic Center.

(January 30, 2020) – The snowmaking crew from Bristol Mountain, N.Y., emerged as the winner in this year’s HKD Snowmakers and Ski Area Management Magazine “I AM a Snowmaker” nationwide contest. The seven finalists in the 2020 I AM a Snowmaker contest were: Aspen Snowmass, Colo.; Bristol Mountain, N.Y.; Eaglecrest Ski Area, Alaska; Gunstock, N.H.; Hunter Mountain, N.Y.; Killington Resort, Vt.; and Pats Peak, N.H. Each snowmaking crew created a compelling storytelling video for the contest, and the public voted for their favorite.

Lake Placid Celebrates 40th Anniversary of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games February 13-23, 2020

Lake Placid, N.Y. – On February 18, 2020, members of the 1980 Olympic Figure Skating Team return to the Lake Placid Olympic Center and Olympic Oval to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the XIII Olympic Winter Games

Olympic 1984 gold medalist and 1980 Team USA Olympic Flag Bearer, Scott Hamilton will host the day’s events that start with a 10 a.m. press-breakfast at the Convention Center. This is followed by a 3 p.m. charity skate-a-thon and culminating with an evening gala and dinner at 7 p.m. and show in the Olympic Center, at 8 p.m.
